About This Place

Located in the heart of Scranton, WaFu Ramen & Rice Bowls is a culinary gem that masterfully blends the rich flavors of traditional Japanese ramen with a contemporary bubble tea experience. Whether you’re craving a warm, comforting bowl of ramen or a refreshing, artisanal tea, WaFu delivers it all with flair, making it a must-visit destination for both locals and visitors alike.

Their menu is thoughtfully curated to showcase the vibrant, umami-packed elements of Japanese cuisine. Signature dishes like the Tonkotsu Ramen boast a silky, deeply savory pork broth that envelops perfectly chewy noodles and tender slices of meat, while the Spicy Miso Ramen tantalizes with a bold, mildly fiery kick that awakens the palate. If you prefer something lighter yet equally satisfying, the Chicken Bao and Shrimp Shumai provide delicate layers of flavor and texture, pairing crisp vegetables and succulent proteins in every bite.

Small plates are equally enticing. The Pork Gyoza arrive with a golden, crisp exterior and juicy filling that bursts with savory goodness. The Takoyaki, a delightful treat of octopus balls topped with bonito flakes, offers a playful contrast of creamy and slightly smoky flavors. For those who appreciate seafood, the Rock Shrimp is crispy, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. Each appetizer harmonizes beautifully with their tea latte selection, where drinks like the Jasmine Green Tea Latte or Oolong Latte balance the meal with smooth, fragrant notes.

WaFu also excels with its rice bowls, such as the Gyudon, which layers tender Japanese-style BBQ onion beef atop fluffy rice alongside fresh vegetables and a gently cooked egg. The Teriyaki Salmon Bowl is a vibrant medley of flavors featuring expertly grilled salmon and fresh accompaniments that promise a healthy yet indulgent experience.

Beyond exceptional food, the ambiance at WaFu Ramen & Rice Bowls reflects an inviting, modern aesthetic with a relaxed vibe — perfect for anything from a casual bite to a meaningful family meal. We got the steak Ramen in seafood broth and chicken Ramen in creamy chik broth (you can mix match the broth with the meats). They were soo delicious. The little chicken buns were such a delight treats. My daughter got jasmine milk tea and she said it's amazing, not too sweet, just right! The server who took care of us was soo wonderful, polite and very helpful. She's top notch!!! Ambiance is great. This restaurant is one of our favorite. Best in town for they type of food they serve.

I love their food I have eaten here multiple times it’s my favorite ramen spot in the area. I always get the combo spicy hataka tonkatsu ramen with a pork bun and brown sugar moomoo it’s soo good. 10/10 highly recommend their food always hits and it’s such a big bowl for the price. If I am not mistaken I pay $25 for that combo which is not bad at all. Can’t wait to eat here again!

We heard this place opened and really wanted to check it out. First, we were so excited to see that they have bubble Thai tea! Yum! The appetizers were good. We got the Shumai and the Chicken Karaage. Both were good, but we really liked the Shumai. For dinner we had Ramen that was very good. We particularly liked the eggs, which were very well seasoned and delicious! We think this restaurant has a lot of promise and we look forward to seeing how they continue to develop their menu!

One of my favorite restaurants in the area. All the food is amazing but the Bao Buns are the most delicious things I've ever eaten.

A hidden Gem ! Fast service. Delicious and fresh ! The combo includes a choice of bun - I recommend the chicken - it’s crispy and flavorful. Wonderful drinks included in the combo. I love the taro with tapioca pearls. Authentic ramen. Friendly and clean !

It’s a decent ramen spot, considering the lack of variety in the area. It’s the best ramen in town, especially for its spicy kimchi. The spice level isn't very spicy. It’s okay and satisfies a ramen craving. They offer multiple varieties of ramen and other dishes. The gyozas were just okay, but lacked vegetables. The atmosphere wasn’t very themed; it was pretty average. I would go back for more ramen and to try their boba.
